Supplements to Improve Memory: the Keys to Better Brain Health
Hi there! If you are reading this then you’ve already taken the all-important first step. You have a desire to better your brain, yourself and your life. Considering that the brain is the most used muscle in the entire body, you might need to start looking after it a bit more.
I would like to share with you my experience when it came to physical and mental fitness in a few words: first, take care of the mental part! In the worlds of Arnold Schwarzenegger,
The body is very important, but the mind is more important than the body.
It’s true. Once you put your brain in order, the rest of it will automatically fall into place like a well stacked row of Tetris blocks.
What I am and what I was
I lead an active life today. Get up early for exercise, I work hard (sometimes even an extra hour or two), get back and maybe work on my project car or shoot a few hoops with friends, spend some time with the wife maybe watch a movie or help her out in the kitchen, get to bed on time to catch a good night’s sleep.
The reason I say today, is because I wasn’t always like this. I had trouble getting up and heading out for work in time. I was always tardy and would usually be the first one out of my office. It was like there was a thin, impenetrable veil over my eyes that kept me from achieving what I was supposed to do.
My wife has known me for a very long time and she began to notice the negative vibes that were all around me. She gently encouraged me to get going to a doctor, someone who specialized in these kinds of cases.
Turns out my brain needed supplements to function just like any other muscle. I had been totally neglecting my brain health. This was so obvious l literally face-palmed when I heard this. I was prescribed on a course of medicines and immediately I noticed small but potent changes to my behavior. I wanted to do more and just couldn’t sit around idle like I used to!
Taking care of your brain
Now that you know where I’m coming from, believe me when I say I’m not stranger to being listless and depressed, not knowing what to do with my life. But the best part is that you don’t have to waste your time on researching what you need to take. I’ll share with you what worked for me and you can tee off from there. Sound good? Let’s warm up then!

Improve memory: supplements that work
I have compiled a list of specialized drugs called nootropics and everyday supplements you can find in your daily diet into a list of the best brain supplements you can find. I feel a good mix of both worlds works best when it comes to the body.
Noopept and Choline Stack
I started off with a nootropic first up and boy is this potent. A lot of people have questioned my choice for a racetam-family drug versus this. And I will let numbers talk; Noopept on an average is 1000-5000 times stronger than other nootropics by weight. Wow, right?
Noopept is found to increase memory, concentration, focus and learning ability exponentially. These are all desirable qualities in any line of work, especially mine, since I deal with a lot of numbers on a day-to-day basis. This bad boy gave me zen-like focus from the start of the day to the end.
When I used this earlier, I used to get a mild headache towards the end of the day. When I read up on this, I discovered since Noopept (nootropics in general) uses the Choline in my body to fuel that concentration. So I needed to supplement Choline levels in my body. To combine nootropics with other elements to improve its effect is called stacking. So a combination of Noopept and Choline could do the trick for you.
L-Theanine with Caffeine
It’s no secret coffee is the workplace hero. Gallons of it are consumed every day and if you are that person who doesn’t brew a fresh pot after finishing the last of it, people think you are a bad person and shun you for the rest of your professional life.
So when so many people are so sure about the benefits it provides it makes sense that they are right, right? Wrong. Dead wrong. Caffeine gives you a ‘feeling’ of alertness but it’s just that… a feeling. Coffee does nothing for your learning or cognitive abilities, plus too much of it can actually give you jitters and the accompanying ‘crash’ after its effects wear off.
The secret sauce here is supplementing Caffeine with L – Theanine, an amino acid found in green tea. This supercharges your coffee to give you fantastic results without the anxiety and blood pressure normally associated with caffeine. L-T works to improve memory, improve visual cognitive abilities and focus.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
My mom always egged me to eat my vitamins. Moms have this inherent ability to know what is best for us and turns out she was right on the money! I used to have fish-oil capsules during college and then on, surprisingly it contains Omega-3 fatty acids that work wonders on your brain to give you a tireless experience through the day.
Omega-3 is found in a lot of foods. Flaxseed, fish, and cereals immediately come to mind. Even though I have quite a balanced diet, I make sure to pop in an O3 supplement in the morning.

An herb found in Northern parts of the Indian sub-continent, its benefits are well-documented with people experiences all kinds of positive effects including cognitive enhancement, alertness and increased problem solving capability. Some have also reported decrease in stress and anxiety levels.
It is also called Water Hyssop and has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicines for giving students and other professionals the edge during exams. This is also one of the most commonly used natural ingredients in nootropic drugs.
Ginkgo Biloba Extract
Extracted from Ginkgo tree leaves, Ginkgo Biloba promotes blood flow to the brain and reduces damages due to oxidation. Verified double-blind placebo tests have proven that this boosts memory and cognitive ability. People being treated for Alzheimer’s and dementia with Ginkgo have shown reduced mental degeneration and even recovery from the diseases.
Naturally occuring, it has minimal to nil side effects. The trees are wonders of nature themselves, having existed well before 200 million years. Their benefits have been put into practice since ancient times. You can stack this with Noopept and Choline to get maximum benefits.
Panax Ginseng (Asian Ginseng)
Ginseng refers to the family of 11 different varieties of short, slow growing perennial plants with fleshy roots discovered first in ancient China. They are famous for their ‘cure-all’ properties ever since they were first discovered.
It was revered by the people there and it is said that the root is usually in the shape of the human lower body. It has many benefits that cannot be ignored including relieving stress and mood upliftment. It is for this reason that it is one of the most sought after natural remedies in the world today. Many nootropic drugs contain Ginseng as an ingredient.
A little less powerful than Ginseng, but still more readily available, Rhodiola Rosea is essentially all the goodness of Ginseng in a cheaper package.
It has all the same properties as Ginseng and additionally has more of a subtle effect on the recovery times of athletes using this herb. The herb reportedly has lessened the feeling of soreness associated with physical activity the next day after a strenuous training session.
Spanish Sage (Salvia Lavandulaefolia)
Found in Spain and parts of southern France, this herb is an aromatic plant with a difference; it has hidden nootropic effects when consumed! It promotes acetylcholine production in the body which in turn makes the brain more alert and able to work for longer hours.
It has a number of additional benefits as well ranging from it being an anxiolytic (calming agent), antioxidant, estrogenic and anti-depressive. So as you can see, its effects are varied and are quite effective as an all-round provider of good things.
I saved the best for last! Depending on different people, dark chocolate is loved or hated. I love dark chocolate! I’m talking about the ones with minimal sugar and upwards of 90% cocoa. This is exactly what you need to get for a yummy, beneficial treat for your brain!
Cocoa stimulates neurons to fire off electrical impulses more rapidly and this helps your brain process information faster. The reason why I stress on high cocoa content without any sugar is because sugar can counteract the benefit cocoa offers. So you need to be careful about what kind of dark chocolate you choose to eat.
Well, I have shared with you all my secrets so you won’t have to go digging for information. After all, a first person perspective always is a much better version to follow! Also, remember to talk to your doctor when you start on any type of drugs, as he can give you a better idea of what you should and shouldn’t do.
All said and done, these supplements are just that… supplements. They should ideally pave the way for you to a more balanced life. So make sure you eat, sleep and workout on a regular basis to see better results!
Stay safe and cultivate a mental toughness that will take your life from negative to positive.
